The challenge for the 2015 competition was to create a product that demonstrated an appreciation of the many advantages of plastic rotational moulding, spanning across two categories; ‘Our Green Environment’ and ‘At Leisure’.
Kingspan Environmental sponsored the ‘Our Green Environment’ category. Kingspan Environmental are global leaders in sustainable building, including custom rotomoulded solutions in sectors ranging from agriculture to construction, transport to civil engineering. As part of Kingspan Group PLC, the worldwide construction experts, the category ‘Our Green Environment’ was a natural fit with the ethos of Kingspan Environmental and the wider Kingspan Group.
Within the ‘Our Green Environment’ category, the entries submitted demonstrated high levels of innovation and high concept design. The deserved winner in this category was Jonathan Payne with his submission entitled the ‘CompoT’. The entry was developed by Jonathan to help solve a friend’s design issues being experienced in their new worm farm business. Jonathan is a final year product design engineering student at Queens University in Belfast, Ireland.
Jonathan was invited to the Kingspan Environmental Head Office in Portadown, County Armagh, Northern Ireland to receive his prize. During his visit, Jonathan enjoyed a tour of the rotomoulding factory, one of the largest in Europe offering fully integrated bespoke custom moulded solutions to blue chip customers across the world.
